FUTURE HUMANS (2022)
Silicone, iron, composite board, mechanical device
200x200x20
If the tactile quality of a material is no longer chosen merely for the sake of form, but instead becomes cognitively linked to the representation itself, can material then evoke our perception of the relationship between form and essence?
Silicone — a material that closely resembles human skin in elasticity and softness — offers a visual sense of biomimicry. In this work, subtle mechanical movements are embedded beneath the surface, imitating the gentle pull of facial muscles. Even without physical contact, can the viewer, through visual suggestion, establish a sensory connection with the material?
